Election strategy meeting?

Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the launching of the 'Encyclopaedia of Dr Mahathir Mohamad' at the Nissan Lecture Theatre, St Antony's College, Oxford University. Many though questioned (privately) the inappropriate use of the word 'encyclopaedia' on this instance....mmm.

This international launching (domestic launching was done 2 days earlier by Pak Lah at IIU) was done by Dato' Dr Rais Yatim who gave a speech of all mighty praises to the great man. To my utter surprise, the few front rows of the modest size lecture theatre saw a full descend of Malaysian ministers and top guns. I just can't understand the importance of them being in that such event; coming all the way across the globe to clap and nod.

Seems to me, this week, half of Malaysian top ministers are in the UK... for what? Can't help to feel fishy when such a big flock follows the trail of their master. The VIP dinner held after the launching ceremony saw more familiar Msian faces...State Chief Minister upon State Chief Minister with their partners joined the highly admirable 'Oxford Dinner'. I was told, the 'more important' event at SOAS on the previous day had seen the same phenomenon... even worse, it went to the extend that VIPs from other countries had to be declined at the door due to inadequate seats, taken by The Clappers & Nodders who were not in the initial list. Malaysia Boleh !

After that, with my old-time friend, SangKlate, and a few others including a girl from my alma mater, we had a good diner at the Al Salaam, an organic halal Lebanese restaurant: mixed kebab was my choice.

Being back to Oxford was great.....

Today the FA charged a number of Arsenal and Manchester United star players for their shame conducts in the battle of Old Trafford last weekend. It reminds me of Nik Fauzi, infamous captain of the red & white team in the late 70's-early 80's, who was once branded as 'Kaki Gaduh' by the 'Dunia Sukan' magazine back home. Viera only dashed a few yards to push someone, but Nik Fauzi often ran across the field to kick or punch an opponent. Those days.....
